The Sándor Teodóz Jáki Scholarship for Csángó Students

In 2013, The Pillangó Foundation was honored to be able to offer its financial assistance to The Hungarian Teachers’ Association of Romania (RMPSZ) in establishing The Sándor Teodóz Jáki Scholarship for Csángó Hungarian university, college, and high school students in Romania.

The Sándor Teodóz Jáki Scholarship is awarded to Csángó students who participated in The Csángó Hungarian Education Program of Moldova and who demonstrate exceptional educational achievements while cultivating Csángó traditions and serving their community. All the applicants reside at the Csángó Boarding School in Csíkszereda (Miercurea Ciuc) in Transylvania, Romania, and attend local Hungarian high schools, technical colleges or universities.

The scholarship honors the memory of the highly esteemed Benedictine father and educator who has been called the Apostle of the Csángós. He died on January 8, 2013 in Pannonhalma, Hungary.
